ERIE, Pa. – Matt Johnson (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern) posted a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles, but the Penn State Behrend men's tennis team fell to Alfred 8-1 in non-conference action on Tuesday.
The Lions (3-7) had two close doubles matches to start the match. Andre Robert and Johnson fell 8-6 in No. 1 doubles, while Christian Ponce (Guatemala City, Guatemala/SEK-International School) and Max Morrow (Youngstown, OH/Boardman) dropped an 8-5 decision at the third spot.
Johnson tallied the lone singles win for Behrend.
The Lions return to action on Saturday at Penn State Altoona. Match begins at 1 p.m.
