Men's Tennis Falls in AMCC Semifinals

MONROEVILLE, Pa. – The third-ranked Penn State Behrend men's tennis team fell to No. 2 Penn State Altoona 5-1 in the semifinals of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships on Saturday night.

The Altoona Lions, who defeated the Lions during the regular season 8-1, earned their second straight win to advance to the AMCC title match tomorrow morning. Altoona won all three doubles matches and only needed two singles wins to halt the match.

Sophomore Brett Palmer (North East, PA/North East) was a 6-4, 7-5 winner for Behrend at No. 6 singles. Andre Robert (San Jose, Costa Rica/PAS) was close to keeping the match alive, but fell in three sets to Geoff Zlobinsky 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.

The No. 3 singles match was the last to be finished.  Nick Kapty (Monongahela, PA/Ringgold) dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Adam Hack to give Altoona the final match it needed to move on to the championships.
