Mt. Union Sweeps Lions

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team dropped their second match of the non-traditional season to non-conference opponent Mount Union, 9-0, on Friday afternoon.

The Lions (2-2) were able to take seven match points from the Purple Raiders (1-1) in doubles action. Yanique Apgar (Pittsburgh, PA) and Mike Russell (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) fell 8-3 at No. 1 to Rob DeMarco and Jeff Williams.

Christian Ponce (Guatemala City. Guatemala/SEK International) and Brent McFarland (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) were defeated at No. 3 doubles, 8-4, to Matt Bringman and Kyle Hicken.

In singles action, Russell was the lone Behrend player to take match points from Mt. Union in both sets at the No. 2 spot.

The Lions return to action on Tuesday, October 13 against Houghton. Match begins at 3 p.m.
