Men's Tennis Rallies to Down Defiance

HILTON HEAD, SC – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team rallied to win four of the singles matches, including two three-set matches to defeat Defiance 5-4 in spring break action in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Yanique Apgar (Pittsburgh, PA), playing at No. 1 singles, and Brent McFarland (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) at No. 3 each fought back from down a set to defeat their opponents to give the Lions (7-4) the win.

Jeremy Burnheimer (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop) registered a 6-4, 6-0 decision at No. 5 singles and Brett Palmer (North East, PA/North East) followed with a 6-0, 6-0 score at No. 6.

Chris Heintz (Fairview, PA/Fairview) and Michael Funera (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) also tallied a point for Behrend to start the match at No. 3 doubles (8-2).

Behrend returns to action Thursday against Hampden-Sydney at 1 p.m.
