Men's Tennis Falls to Houghton

HOUGHTON, NY – The Houghton men's tennis team tallied an 8-1 victory over Penn State Behrend in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

The Highlanders won the three doubles matches and five of the six singles for the win. Brent McFarland (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) tallied the lone singles decision for the Lions (9-8) at the No. 2 spot.

McFarland, playing at No. 2 singles for just the second time this season, tallied his second win with a tiebreaker set against Jordan Crouch (6-7, 7-6, 10-4).

Mike Russell (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) was on the losing end of a tiebreaker set at No. 1 singles. The freshman lost 6-1, 4-6, 10-5. Russell and McFarland also dropped a close No. 1 double match, falling 8-6.

Behrend returns to action on Saturday against Penn State Altoona. Match begins at 1 p.m.
