Allegheny Defeats Men's Tennis

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny men's tennis team defeated Penn State Behrend 8-1 in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Gators (4-13) swept the doubles matches, winning 8-1 at No. 1 and 8-5 at both the second and third spot for a quick 3-0 lead.

Brent McFarland (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) pulled out the lone win for the Lions (10-9) at No. 4 singles. The sophomore defeated Cooper Miller in a tiebreaker set, winning 6-2 and then falling 6-0 before sealing the victory with a 10-5 decision.

Allegheny won the remaining singles in straight sets.

Behrend returns to action on Thursday, April 20 against Thiel. Match time is 4 p.m.
