Men's Tennis Drops a Pair on Final Day of Spring Break Trip

HILTON HEAD, SC – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team dropped a pair of non-conference matches on the final day of competition of their spring break trip. The Lions fell to Webster 5-4 and Catholic 8-1 on Thursday.

Match One:

  Webster 5, Penn State Behrend 4
Records: Penn State Behrend (8-6), Webster (6-3)

Key Moments:

* The Behrend Lions dropped their second one-point match while on spring break
* Behrend won at No. 3 doubles to start for the third consecutive match
* This time it was Mitchell May (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) and Matt Brown (Ovieda, FL)  blanked
Zach Stevens and Justin Kohler of Webster, 8-0
* May and Brown went on to win at fourth and sixth singles, respectively
* May defeated Tanner Haugen 6-0, 6-0 to not give up a match point on the day
* Brown managed a 6-1, 6-2 victory, while Belden Tuttle (Fairview, PA/Fairview) got the final singles win at the fifth spot (6-2, 6-2)

  Catholic 8, Penn State Behrend 1
Records: Penn State Behrend (8-7), Catholic (4-4 )

* Catholic posted six singles wins and two doubles for the non-conference victory
* Mason Harbaugh (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) and May managed an 8-4 decision at No. 2 singles over Kyle Weber and Eric Macarski
* Brown took Paul Smith to a tiebreaker set, falling 6-2, 3-6, 10-4 at No. 6 singles
fifth spot, respectively
