ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team won their first match of the spring season, defeating Washington & Jefferson in non-conference action on Friday at Westwood Racquet Club.

Key Moments:

* The Behrend Lions had five players win twice on the night
* Jonathon Laier (Lansing, MI/Holt) and Akash Sangha (Milton, Ontario/White Oaks) were 8-1 winners at No. 1 doubles to begin the match
* Laier went on to defeat Jake Akers at No. 1 singles (6-2, 7-5) and Sangha only gave up two set points at No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-1)
* Owen Sinnott (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) and Aidan Piazza (Fairview, PA/Fairview) teamed up for an 8-3 decision at No. 2 doubles
* Piazza continued the winning ways into singles with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles
* The final doubles win went to William Thomas (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem) and Luke Vunora (Natrona Heights, PA/Highlands)
* The duo posted a 8-6 decision to help the Lions sweep the doubles competition
* Individually, Thomas was a 6-4, 6-4 winner at No. 5 and Vunora worked hard for his 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 win at No. 6 singles
