Men's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight AMCC Championship; Lions Defeat Altoona

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team won the 2025 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship match with a 4-1 decision over Penn State Altoona on Sunday at Westwood Racquet Club.

* The Lions won their fourth straight championship and 10th overall title
* Behrend and Altoona met for the third straight AMCC championship, splitting matches during the regular season
* The Behrend Lions advance to the Atlantic East Championships on May 4 
* Jonathon Laier (Lansing, MI/Holt) and Aidan Piazza (Fairview, PA/Fairview) were named to the All-Tournament Team
* Laier and Graham Louis (Erie, PA/Fairview) were double winners in the championship match, starting at No. 1 doubles by a score of 6-3
* Owen Sinnott (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) and Carson Souser (Clay, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) managed a 6-4 decision to help the Lions clinch the doubles point for a 1-0 lead heading into singles
* Sinnott earned the first singles point at the No. 2 spot against Jackson Newell
* Louis put Behrend ahead 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Will Grot at No. 4 singles
* Vitaliy Pikalo (Hampton, PA/Hampton) clinched the final point the Lions needed at No. 3 singles
* Pikalo won the first set 6-4, before falling 6-1 and then winning 6-2 vs. Emmett Hibbs
* No. 1 singles (Laier/Casey Hess) and No. 5 singles (William Thomas (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem) vs. Kadyn Carey) were unfinished
* Altoona's lone point came from No. 6 singles
