Men's Track and Field Competes at Baldwin Wallace

BEREA, Oh. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team competed in the Mid-February Meet at Baldwin Wallace on Friday evening.

In the mile run, Matt McWilliams (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) broke his own school record. The sophomore qualified for ECAC's, finishing first with a time of 4:23.45. Josh Natalie (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy-Strong Vincent) finished fourth (4:35.35) and Denis Lydon (Plum, PA/Plum) came in sixth (4:37.85) in the same event.

Malik Moffett-Pulliam (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) also broke his own Behrend indoor record in the high jump by going 2.04 meters. That number again qualifies the freshman for ECAC's. Moffett-Pulliam, whose distance was .06 meters better than the next best finisher, entered the meet ranked 27th in the nation in the high jump.

The foursome of Joey Wall (Monongahela, PA/Ringgold), Geoffrey Faltot (Mercer, PA/Mercer) , Luke Patten (West Middlesex, PA/West Middlesex), and Joseph Neff (North East, PA/North East) qualified for ECAC's with a time of 1:33.21 in the 4X200 meter relay. That time was good for second place.

Faltot then finished third in the long jump competition with a distance of 6.51 meters.

Later in the evening, Lydon won the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:19.43. Cody Cornell (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut Lake) came in fourth in the same event at 9:33.27.

In the 5000 meter run, Jake DeWeese (Freedom, PA/Freedom Area) finished second with a time of 16:17.59.

Devin Beggs (Franklin, PA/Franklin) finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:03.10.

The Lions, who entered the day ranked 10th in the Mideast Region, finished second out of 12 teams in Friday's meet.

Behrend will travel to Gambier, OH for the Kenyon College Classic on Saturday, February 15 at 12 p.m.
