Lions Break Five School Records at ECAC Championships

BOSTON, Ma. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team shipped to Boston and finished 13th out of 59 schools in the 2014 ECAC Indoor Championships this weekend.

Matt McWilliams (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) broke a Behrend record in the 800 meter dash, finishing second in his section with a time of 1:57.45.

Malik Moffett-Pulliam (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) broke a school record in the 200 meter dash, finishing first in his section and fifth overall with a time of 22.21 seconds.

Josh Natalie (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy-Strong Vincent) also set a school record in 500 meter dash with a time of 1:07.42.The sophomore broke a Behrend mark that stood for twelve years.

In keeping up with the theme, the Lions team of Devin Beggs (Franklin, PA/Franklin), Brent Channer (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South), Natalie ,and McWilliams set yet another school indoor record in the distance medley relay with a time of 10:20.79.

Jeromee Geibel (Butler, PA/Butler), Beggs, Natalie, and McWilliams then shattered the school record in the 4X800 meter relay with a time of 8:01.26, good for sixth place.

Kevin Gardner (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) posted a height of 1.93 meters in the high jump.

In the shot put, Mitchell Obenrader (Fryburg, PA/North Clarion) carded a distance of 13.39 meters.

The 4X400 meter relay saw the group of Andres Morales (Alajuela, Costa Rica/ICS), Matthew Grafton (Worthington, PA/Kittanning), Channer, and Kevin Lai (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) finish second in their section with a time of 3:29.65.

Behrend will next travel to California (PA) on March 22.
