Track and Field Travels to Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team continued their hot play on Saturday afternoon at the Westminster Invitational.

Malik Moffett-Pulliam (Cathedral Prep/Erie, PA) continued his stellar freshman season by winning both the 100 and the 200 meter dash races. Moffett-Pulliam's number of 22.45 in the 200 qualifies the freshman for ECAC's.

Behrend came in one and two in the 800 meter run – Josh Natalie (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy-Strong Vincent) came in first and Matt McWilliams (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) was right behind.

McWilliams later broke the school record in the 1500 meter run, finishing first at 4:01.41. Devin Beggs (Franklin, PA/Franklin) finished third in the same race at 4:10.40.

In the 10000 meter run, senior Denis Lydon (Plum, PA/Plum) posted a first place finish, coming in at 32:15.74.

Matthew Grafton (Worthington, PA/Worthington) nailed two strong second place finishes – in the 110 meter hurdles, and the 400 meter hurdles, respectively. Grafton's  number of 56.28 qualifies the freshman for ECAC's.

In the high jump, Moffett-Pulliam (2.04) and Kevin Gardner (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) (1.97) both qualified for ECAC's with spectacular efforts.

Luke Aaron (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) also qualified for ECAC's, with a first place-tying heave of 4.50 meters.

The Lions will travel to Carnegie Mellon on Wednesday, April 16 at 4 p.m.
