Records Fall at Carnegie Mellon Tri-Meet

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team took to Pittsburgh for the Carnegie Mellon Tri-Meet on Wednesday afternoon at Gesling Stadium.
The Lions, who entered the day ranked sixth in the Division III Mideast Region, were impressive in what was their first mid-week meet of the season.
Malik Moffett-Pulliam (Cathedral Prep/Erie, PA) broke his own school record in winning 100 meter dash, qualifying for ECAC's with a time of 10.66 seconds. Matthew Grafton (Worthington, PA/Kittanning) finished second at 11.11, and Geoffrey Faltot (Mercer, PA/Mercer) came in third at 11.41.
Moffett-Pulliam also qualified for ECAC's by winning the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.28 seconds. In the high jump, the freshman also took first at 1.88 meters.
Matt McWilliams (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) set another new Behrend outdoor record with his second-place finish in the 800 at 1:56.33 seconds. Josh Natalie (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy-Strong Vincent) came in third in the same event with at time of 1:57.29 seconds.
Faltot finished first in the long jump with a distance of 6.56 meters.
Grafton was victorious in the 400 meter hurdles, qualifying for ECAC's at 55.64 seconds.
Brent Channer (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) posted a second-place finish in the 400 meter run (52.71 seconds) and Grafton was runner-up in the 110 meter hurdles at 15.75 seconds.
Mitchell Obenrader (Fryburg, PA/North Clarion) finished second in the javelin throw with a distance of 52.36 meters.
The Lions will take part in the Kenyon Spring Invitational on April 19 in Gambier, Oh.
