Obenrader Breaks His Shot Put Record at Tiffin

TIFFIN, Oh. – Mitchell Obenrader (Fryburg, PA/North Clarion) broke his own shot put school record for the Penn State Behrend men's track and field team at the Dragon Invite hosted by Tiffin University Saturday.

Obenrader finished fourth and threw a distance of 16.39m (53' 9.25"), breaking his previous record of 51' 3.5".

Matt McWilliams (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Josh Natalie (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy-Strong Vincent) scored great times in the mile run for the second week in a row.

McWilliams placed first for the second straight week with a time of 4:20.41, 1.34 seconds off his record-breaking time from last week. Natalie finished right behind McWilliams in second at 4:22.43.

McWilliams also too third in the 3000m with a time of 8:51.83, while Dylan Buffington (Brookville, PA/Brookville) took second in the 800m in 1:58.16 and Shane MacMahon (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) took 13th at 2:02.23.

In field events, Kevin Gardner (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) had the top finish, placement wise, of third. He took third in the high jump with a height of 1.98m (6' 6").

Luke Patten (West Middlesex, PA/West Middlesex) finished fifth in the pole vault, raising height of 4.32m (14' 2") and Ryan Horstman (Butler, PA/Butler) took eighth in the triple jump at a distance of 12.63m (41' 5.25").

Behrend goes to Brockport Saturday for a 10 a.m. start.
