Lions Compete at John Homon Invitational

ALLIANCE, Oh. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team ran at The University of Mount Union Sunday, in the John Homon Invitational.

Matt McWilliams (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) broke a school record in the 5000m, finishing first with an ECAC qualifying mark of 14:51.97, breaking the previous record by 34 seconds.

Josh Natalie (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) won the 800m. He beat 46 other runners to post a 1:55.36. Cody Cornell (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut Lake), Devin Beggs (Franklin, PA/Franklin) and Dylan Buffington (Brookville, PA/Brookville) finished in third, fourth and fifth respectively. They posted times of 1:58.12, 2:00.00 and 2:00.03.

Matthew Grafton (Worthington, PA/Kittanning) placed third and fifth in the 400m and 200m with times of 50.97 and 23.21 respectively. Joseph Neff (North East, PA/North East) took seventh in the 200, running a 23.54. He also finished eighth in the 100m with an 11.88.

Joshua Burns (St. Mary's PA/St. Mary's Area) and Colby Tarr (Uniontown, PA/Laurel Highlands) took a four-five finish in the 400m hurdles, posting times of 58.83 and 59.61 respectively. Jarrod Lipsy (Kersey, PA/St. Mary's Area) placed third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:22.06.

Like the women's side, the men's 4x400 took third. Natalie, Jacob Marzka (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoef), Greg Graf (South Park, PA/South Park) and Shane MacMahon (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) ran the relay in 3:39.74.

In the field, Kevin Gardner (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) rose to a third place high jump finish with a height of 1.95m (6' 4.75").

The Lions return to the track at Westminster Saturday with a 10 a.m. start.
