Lions Compete at Denison Last Chance Meet

GRANVILLE, Ohio - Five Penn State Behrend men's and women's track and field athletes competed at the Denison Last Chance Meet friday afternoon.

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) and Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan) competed for the women in their respective crafts. Allen competed in the 60 and 200 meter dash while Yenchik in the pole vault.

In the 60 meter dash, Allen crossed the line in 7.79 seconds to take second overall. She then competed in the 200 meter dash to finish the day, coming in second again with a time of 25.60. Yenchik vaulted to a height of 3.40 meters  to give her the 2nd-place finish.

Behrend took the sweep on the men's side. Mitchell Obenrader (Fryburg, PA/North Clarion) competed in the shot put, Luke Patten (West Middlesex, PA/West Middlesex) competed in the pole vault. On the track side, Matthew Grafton raced in the 60 meter hurdles.

Obenrader's toss of 16.69 meters gave him a first-place finish. Patten vaulted to a first-place finish with a height of 4.85 meters. Grafton came in first overall with a time of 8.47 in the hurdles.

Both the men and women will be back in action next week when they travel to Ithaca to compete at the ECAC Championships. The two-day event will begin March 3 at 1 p.m.
