Men's Track and Field Wins CSAC Championship; Myers, Michael Named Athletes of the Year

LAPLUME, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's track & field team won the CSAC Championship on Saturday with a score of 342. Following Behrend was Alfred State scoring 195. The Lions had multiple top finishers and claimed both Track and Field Athletes of the Year. 

Key Moments: 

Phoenix Myers (Erie, PA/Seneca) won three events for the Lions, claiming the CSAC Track Athlete of the Year award
* The CSAC Field Athlete of the Year was Matt Michael (Erie, PA/Iroquois) for his performance in the throwing events
* Myers competed in three events, winning all three. He won the 3000m steeplechase (9:53.19), the 1500m run (4:07.60), and the 5000m run (15:47.10)
* Michael threw the shot put, discus, hammer throw, and javelin. He took home the gold in the shot put throwing 14.80m
* Michael also finished third in the discus (38.72m), hammer throw (43.75m), and the javelin (33.22m)
* Braeden Smith (Erie, PA/Seneca) set the conference record in the high jump, leaping 2.01m, good for a gold medal
* Samuel Hertick (New Bethlehem, PA/Redbank Valley) followed Smith in second (1.85m) while Evan States (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) finished fourth (1.75m) and Anand Bhambwani (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) finished fifth (1.75m)
* The 4x100m team of Antonio Stello (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney), Blake Burns (Jefferson, OH/Jefferson Area), Amory Coleman-Reeves (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) and Eric Stehlik (Northport, NY/Northport) claimed 10 points with a first place finish (43.05)
* Burns also won the 110m hurdles, running 15.95 and Stehlik took home the gold in the 400m dash with a time of 50.95
* Behrend finished one, two, and three in the 100m dash. Stello led the way with 11.08 followed by Coleman-Reeves (11.22) and Burns (11.38)
* Stello, Stehlik, and Coleman-Reeves also took home the top-3 spots in the 200m dash
* The Lions scored 24 total points in the pole vault behind a first place finish from Jack Georgetson (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell), second by Ryan Festa (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham), and third by Kevin Stebick (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf)
* Coleman-Reeves won the men's long jump event (6.68m) followed by States (6.64m) and Bhambhwani (6.47m)
* Bhambhwani tallied a gold medal in the triple jump with a leap of 12.82m with States right behind at 12.12m
* Dan Dabrowski (Harborcreek, PA/Harborcreek) won the discus by almost three meters, throwing 47.28m
