Hetrick and Smith Selected for NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team will be sending Samuel Hetrick (New Bethlehem, PA/Redbank Valley) and Braeden Smith (Erie, PA/Seneca) to the NCAA Indoor Championships in Winston-Salem, NC this weekend. Both Hetrick and Smith will represent the Lions in the high jump this weekend, qualifying with the fourth and sixth-best marks in NCAA Division III.

Hetrick was tied amongst the top of the leaderboards at one point this season, but his 2.10m leap at the Jud Logan Light Giver Open still held to be the fourth highest in the nation. This is the first NCAA selection of his career.

Smith was selected to his fifth championship field. Smith enters the weekend with a seed of sixth after a 2.08m mark at the Steemer Showcase hosted by Wittenberg.

The NCAA Indoor Championships begin on Friday, March 11, concluding on Saturday, March 12. Winston-Salem and Guilford College will serve has the host institutions at the JDL Fast Track.
