Festa Clinches AARTFC Championship Bid as Lions Take Part in Westminster Invite
The Penn State Behrend men’s track and field team competed in the Westminster College Invitational on Saturday where Ryan Festa (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) went on to set a personal record in the pole vault and qualifying for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships.
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team competed in the Westminster College Invitational on Saturday where Ryan Festa (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) went on to set a personal record in the pole vault and qualifying for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships.
Noteworthy:
* Festa cleared 4.42m to set a new PR and punch his ticket to the AARTFC Championships in May
* Braeden Smith (Erie, PA/Seneca) and Samuel Hetrick (New Bethlehem, PA/Redbank Valley) topped the high jump once again in first and second, respectively
* Smith finished with a mark of 1.95 as Hetrick concluded with 1.90m leap
* Eric Stehlik (Northport, NY/Northport) grabbed gold in the 400m, pacing all runners at 51.16
* Stehlik finished second in the 200m, crossing at 22.62
* Jake Rose (Lawrence Park, PA/Iroquois) placed third in the shot put, marking 12.92m
* Mike Nye (Erie, PA/Iroquois) finished just shy of Rose in the shot put with a toss of 12.75m for fourth place
* Freshman Dan Dabrowski (Harborcreek, PA/Harborcreek) took gold in discus, earning a mark of 45.68m
