Hetrick, Daghestani Take First at Carnegie Mellon Invitational

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend outdoor men's track &field team placed seventh out of 14 teams at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational held on Friday and Saturday.

Key Moments:

* Behrend accumulated 38 points to place seventh at its first outdoor meet of the season
* The Lions had two first-place finishes on the day
* Samuel Hetrick (New Bethlehem, PA/Redbank Valley) won the high jump with a height of 2.02m and Islam Daghestani (Meadville, PA/Meadville Area) claimed first in the pole vault (4.30m)
* Anand Bhambhwani (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) was behind Hetrick in the high jump with a height of 1.87m for second  place overall
* Both Hetrick and Dan Dabrowski (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) had AARTFC qualifying marks in their respective events
* Dabrowski was second in the discus throw with a distance of 49.46m to place second overall
* Bhambhwani also placed 11th in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.28
* In the shot put, Alex Cotton (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) led with an eighth-place finish (13.44m) and Max Rohl (Horsehead, NY/Horseheads) was ninth (13.34m)
* Matthew Laslavic (Evans City, PA/Seneca Valley) led the Lions in the javelin with a toss of 48.07m for eighth place
