Behrend Track & Field in First at CSAC Championship; Laslavic Wins Twice

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Penn State Behrend outdoor men's track & field team has a commanding 111-point lead after day one of the 2023 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championships held at Gallaudet on Saturday.

Team Scores: Penn State Behrend 137, Alfred State 26, Gallaudet 14, Keystone 8

Key Moments:

* The Behrend Lions won five events on the first day of competition
* Matthew Laslavic (Evans City, PA/Seneca Valley) was a repeat champion in the javelin and triple jump
* He led a 1-2-3 finish in the triple jump (13.36m), followed by Anand Bhambhwani (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) in second and Evan States (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) in third
* Laslavic threw the javelin 51.85m for first place and repeat gold
* In the pole vault, Islam Daghestani (Meadville, PA/Meadville) was crowned the champion with a height of 4.45m
* Daghestani had three teammates follow starting with Ryan Festa (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) in second, Alex LaBarge (Victor, NY/Victor) in third and Lucas Makai (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Regional) in fourth
* Kody Klein (North East, PA/Cathedral Prep) led a 1-2-3-4-5 finish in the 1500m to capture all but one point in the event
* Klein led with a time of 4:08.04, followed by Nick Temel (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut Lake) in second, Aidan Domencic (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) in third
* Emil George (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) was the champion in the 10,000m event with a winning time of 36:29.37
* Dan Dabrowski (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) threw a distance of threw 50.35m in the discus to place second for silver before taking fifth in the javelin (38.09m)
