Dabrowski, Klein Register Regional Qualifications To Begin Outdoor Season

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team opened up the outdoor season at the Carnegie Mellon Invite on Friday and Saturday.
Key Moments:
* Senior thrower Dan Dabrowski (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) earned a first-place finish with an AARTFC qualifying score of 167-07 in the discus. Freshman Alex Cotton (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) followed him with a fifth-place throw of 129-02
* Matthew Laslavic (Evans City, PA/Seneca Valley) and Aidan Grieneisen (Brockway, PA/Brockway Area) finished with personal bests in the javelin. Laslavic delivered a first-place throw of 178-6, while Grieneisen placed right behind Laslavic in the event with a score of 178-3
* In the 800m, Kody Klein (North East, PA/Cathedral Prep) ran an AARTFC qualifying time of 1:55.51 en route to a fourth-place finish
* Samuel Hetrick (New Bethlehem, PA/Redbank Valley) and Derek Hillhouse (Erie, PA/McDowell) placed second and third in the high jump with clearances of 6-3 1/4 and 6-1 1/4
* Freshman Jake Egizio (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) crossed the finish line with a time of 11.16 in the 100m dash for sixth place
* Other top field event finishers for the Lions were Ryan Festa (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) and Max Rohl (Horsehead, NY/Horseheads). Rohl finished seventh in the hammer throw (153-10) and Festa claimed eighth in the pole vault (14-2)
* Cotton went on to throw 45-5 in the shot put for eighth place
* In the 3000m steeple, Aidan Domencic (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) registered a ninth-place time of 9:55.97
* The 4x1 relay team of Hetrick, Egizio, Odis Florence (Streetsboro, OH/Streetsboro), and Marshall Nock (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) tallied a time of 44.25 which was good for eighth
