Sophomore Brandon Konieczki (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) set a new Penn State Behrend indoor men’s track & field record in the long jump on Saturday at the Brockport Multi.
BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Sophomore Brandon Konieczki (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) set a new Penn State Behrend indoor men's track & field record in the long jump on Saturday at the Brockport Multi.
Key Moments:
* Konieczki jumped 23-3 ¼ to pass a 15-year-old mark of 23-0 ½ which was set by Ronson Mazany on January 22, 2011
* He finished first and also qualified for regionals in the long jump with this milestone mark
* Dominic Marino (Girard, PA/Girard) and Alex Cotton (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) recorded a pair of runner-up finishes for the Lions
* Marino ran a personal-best time of 8.79 in the 60m hurdles, while Cotton threw a personal-record in the shot put of 51-3
* Freshman Carter Tobin (Irwin, PA/Norwin) tallied third and sixth with personal-best times of 22.64 and 7.09 in the 200m and 60m
* Field athletes Ryan Festa (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) and Derek Hillhouse (Erie, PA/McDowell) each registered fifth-place finishes
* Festa had a height of 14-7 ¼ in the pole vault, while Hillhouse jumped 5-11 ¼ in the high jump
* Distance runners Bennett Kerr (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) (5000m/16:29.29) and Tim Hamilton (Winchester, MA/Winchester) (3000m/9:20.63) placed sixth in their respective events
* Alex Haskins (North East, PA/North East) crossed the finish line right behind Kerr in the 3000m with a time of 16:35.23
* The 4x4 relay team of Tobin, Teddy Ola Jr. (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin), Drew Knight (Butler, PA/Butler), and Brendan Luce (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern) ended the meet with a fourth-place time of 3:34.96
