Three Lions Earn Medals on Final Day of SUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Championships
The Penn State Behrend men’s indoor track & field placed fourth out of 10 teams at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships with 59 total points.
BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Penn State Behrend men's indoor track & field placed fourth out of 10 teams at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships with 59 total points.
Key Moments:
* Brandon Konieczki (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek), Derek Hillhouse (Erie, PA/McDowell), and Alex Cotton (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) all claimed medals on day two
* Konieczki earned a silver medal in the long jump with a mark of 23-2 ½
* Hillhouse registered a jump of 6-2 ¾ for a bronze in the high jump. Boden Gushie (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) made a podium appearance with a height of 5-10 ¾ for sixth, while Cole Cunningham (Mercer, PA/Mercer) tied his season best of 5-8 ¾ for 13th in this event
* Cotton threw 51-8 ¼ in the shot put to grab a bronze medal. He was followed by Antonio Faraone's (New Castle, PA/Union) fourth place distance of 46-6 ¼
* Other throwers to compete in the shot put on Saturday were Ryan Visosky (Erie, Pa/McDowell) (13th/41-3 ¼), Dan Dabrowski (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) (17th/38-8 ¼), and Max Rohl (Horsehead, NY/Horseheads) (19th/38-1 ½)
* Freshman Carter Tobin (Irwin, PA/Norwin) finished fourth and eighth in the 200m finals and 60m finals with times of 22.31 and 7.10
* Distance runner Tim Hamilton (Winchester, MA/Winchester) ran a personal best 9:12.02 for seventh-place in the 3000m. Bennett Kerr (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) also recorded a career-best time of 9:22.21 in this event for 12th
* Fellow distance runner Peyton Brewer (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) placed 10th in the mile with a personal-record time of 4:45.78
* In the 800m, Drew Knight (Butler, PA/Butler) crossed the finish line in 10th with a time of 2:02.72 and was followed by David Gahagan (South Park, PA/South Park) (14th/2:05.38), and Aidan Reinsel (North East, PA/North East) (15th/2:06.68)
* The 4x4 relay team of Tobin, David Friedrich (North Collins, NY/St. Francis), Jake Nardozza (Harrison City, PA/Penn-Trafford), Jake Egizio (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) ended the two-day championships with a sixth-place time of 3:27.96
* The top-3 finishers in each event were named to the All-Conference Team
