Four Lions Record AARTFC Qualifying Marks To Open Outdoor Campaign
The Penn State Behrend men’s track & field team tallied 13 personal bests and hit four regional qualifying marks to begin the 2025 outdoor season.
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's track & field team tallied 13 personal bests and hit four regional qualifying marks to begin the 2025 outdoor season.
Key Moments:
* Senior Dan Dabrowski (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) won the discus throw with an AARTFC qualifying distance of 166-10. Dabrowski was followed by Alex Cotton (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) (149-5), Ryan Visosky (Erie, Pa/McDowell) (126-5), and Aiden Grieneisen (Brockway, PA/Brockway Area) (123-3) in fifth, 16th, and 20th respectively
* These were personal records for Cotton and Grieneisen in this event and Cotton also qualified for regionals with this mark
* Grieneisen would go on to earn a runner-up finish in the javelin throw with a career best 201-4 which ranks him fifth in Division III and qualifies him for regional championships
* Freshman Braden Balaski (Mercer, PA/Mercer) placed behind Grieneisen with a throw of 159-2
* Cotton and Ryan Festa (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) finished fourth in their respective events
* Cotton scored an outdoor best and AARTFC qualifying distance of 51-4 ¼ in the shot put and Festa delivered a height of 14-4 ½ in the pole vault
* Antonio Faraone (New Castle, PA/Union) (46-8 ¾) and Visosky (41-7 ¼) notched eighth and 16th in the shot put behind Cotton
* In the long jump, Brandon Konieczki (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) claimed a distance of 21-7 ½ for sixth place
* Freshman Carter Tobin (Irwin, PA/Norwin) was the final regional qualifier for the day with a time of 21.80 for seventh place in the 200m
* Tobin was followed by Jake Egizio (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) (22.13) in 11th place
* Tobin (10.99) placed sixth in the 100m. Egizio (11.14) and Marshall Nock (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) (11.22) also ran career-best times in this event
* Dominic Marino (Girard, PA/Girard) recorded a personal-best time in the 110m hurdles of 16.38, while Derek Hillhouse (Erie, PA/McDowell) jumped ninth in the high jump (6-0 ½)
* Distance runners Peyton Brewer (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) (3000m Steeplechase/10:11.13) and Tim Hamilton (Winchester, MA/Winchester) (3000m/9:21.21) finished 12th and 13th in their respective events
