Three Named to AMCC Men's Volleyball Team; Pisano Tabs Coach of the Year

ERIE, Pa.  – Three members of the Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team were named to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Team while head coach Phil Pisano received the inaugural Coach of the Year honors.

Pisano guided the Lions to an 8-17 record along with a berth in the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Tournament in their first-year as a varsity program. Setter Evan Fullerton (Ambridge, PA/Ambridge) was selected to the first team, while Nate Steele (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) and Anthony Capizzi (Pittsburgh, PA/Pittsburgh Central Catholic) were chosen to the second team.

Fullerton led the team with 449 assists and ranked fifth in the conference with 5.68 helpers per set. He was also first in services aces with 17. In 25 matches, Fullerton had 98 digs and 43 kills. He dished out a season-best 33 assists in a three-set win over Hilbert on March 21.

Steele, a sophomore outside hitter, recorded 141 kills for a .241 hitting percentage. He also added 52 digs and 22 blocks in 18 matches.  Steele posted double-digit kills in five matches, including a season-best 12 on two occasions.

Capizzi, a senior middle hitter, was dominating at the net for Behrend this season. He led with 65 blocks, good enough for fifth in the AMCC and ranking eighth in the conference in hitting percentage (.245) with 116 kills.

Behrend's season continues at Wells at Thursday before traveling to New York City for the UVC Tournament on April 14.
