No. 4 Juniata Posts 3-1 Win Over Lions

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The fourth-ranked Juniata men's volleyball team had four players with double-figure kills to defeat Penn State Behrend 3-1 in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

Ross Madden earned with a double-double of 13 kills and 11 digs, while Paul Kuhn finished with a match-high 15 kills to help the Eagles (17-7) rally back from a first-set loss 26-24 to win 25-17, 25-19 and 25-12.

The Lions (10-11) had their fair share of the offense with three players in double figure kills led by Ty Sheehan (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) with a team-high 14 kills and eight digs. Behrend also recorded the most digs this season with 39 and second highest kills with 49 for a four-set match.

Grant Kocher (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) and Nathan Steele (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) each added 13 kills.

The Lions only trailed after the opening point in the first game to go on and take the quick lead in the match. A kill by Kocher gave Behrend the game point at 24-22 but it wasn't until Sheehan and Steele had back-to-back kills for a 26-24 win.

Despite five straight points at the end of the second game, Juniata held on for a 25-17 victory. The Eagles kept that momentum for the third and fourth game.

Evan Fullerton (McMurray, PA/McMurray) and Colin Ingram (Hilliard, OH/Hilliard Darby) split setter duties to collect 23 and 22, respectively.

The Lions return to action on Thursday against Hilbert. Match begins at 7 p.m.
