Men's Volleyball Downs Hawks Again

HAMBURG, NY – For a second time this season, the Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team defeated Hilbert 3-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Thursday.

The Lions (14-13) won 25-18, 25-19 and 25-21. Ty Sheehan (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) led Behrend with 11 kills and 10 digs for his first double-double of the season. Evan Fullerton (Ambridge, PA/Ambridge) did the majority of the assist with a game-high 26 helpers.

Kevin Smith (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) had five blocks, while Grant Kocher (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) and Joey Price (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) added seven digs apiece.

Eric Theiss (Plum, PA/Plum) tallied a second-best nine kills.

As a team, Behrend hit .312 with 40 kills on 96 attempts.

David Mellerski had a double-double for the Hawks (6-20) with 20 assists and 11 digs in the loss.

The Lions return to action on Saturday against D'Youville and Penn State Altoona. Matches begin at 5:30 at Altoona.
