Lions Fall to No. 13 MIT

ELMIRA, NY – Martin Krasuski had a .429 hitting percentage with a game-high 11 kills and four blocks to help No. 13 MIT defeat Penn State Behrend 3-0 on the final day of the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Crossover hosted by Elmira on Sunday.

MIT narrowly got past the Lions (11-6, 5-5 UVC) in the first set 25-23 and then posted 25-16 and 25-15 wins in the final two sets for the win.

Ty Sheehan (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton), Nathan Steele (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) and Antonio Vazquez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/UHS) each recorded five kills.

Down 22-20 in the first set, Behrend won the next three out of four points to tie the game at 23-all. MIT got kills from Andrew Busse and Krasuski for a 1-0 lead in the match.

MIT darted out to a 20-9 lead in the second set, which resulted in a 25-16 win. The third set was the same with MIT taking a nine-point advantage at 20-11 and finished the game with a 5-4 spurt for the victory.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday, March 19 against Elmira at 4:30 p.m.
