Men's Volleyball Defeats CCNY

NEW YORK, NY – Derek Polishen (Plum, PA/Plum) led the Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team with seven kills and seven digs to defeat the City College of New York 3-0 in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon. 

The Lions (9-9) posted a 25-17, 25-10 and 25-21 victory in their second straight day of competition. Eric Theiss (Plum, PA/Plum) tallied five kills and four digs, while Aaron Mueller (Ambridge, PA/Ambridge) had 10 assists.

With just a three-point lead at 16-13, Behrend continued to pull away with a kill from Ty Sheehan (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) and four attack errors to get a 25-17  win.

Behrend held a commanding 16-4 lead in the second set to finish with a 25-10 victory and a 2-0 advantage in the match. In a closer third set, the Lions broke a 20-all tie with two errors and kill by Josh Vanderhoof (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) for the sweep at 25-21. 

Behrend returns to action tomorrow at Lancaster Bible, beginning at 4 p.m.
