Lions Sweep Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team won their fourth match in five contests with a 3-0 win over Lancaster Bible on Monday afternoon.
The Lion (10-9) swept 25-16, 25-12, 25-14 and only allowed 15 offensive points while knocking in 32 kills for the non-conference win.
Derek Polishen (Plum, PA/Plum), Trenton Munk (Baden, PA/Ambridge) and Kevin Kaplon (Rural Valley, PA/West Shamokin) each tallied six kills each, while Ty Sheehan (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) led with 10 digs.
Behrend never let Lancaster Bible in the match, jumping out to a 20-11 in the first set and relied on two aces from Josh Oertly (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton), before the opponents service ace won the set, 25-16.
After holding Lancaster Bible to three kills in the first set, the Lions only allowed five in the second set for a 25-12 victory. Behrend hit .323, only committing two errors with 12 kills on 31 attempts.
The Lions started the third set 7-0 and built the lead to 23-11, before winning on a kill by Joe Price (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) to finish at 25-14.
Behrend returns to action on March 18 against D'Youville at 7 p.m.
