Hildebrand Breaks Two Records; Behrend Men's Volleyball Falls Twice

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team suffered a pair of five set losses, first to Penn State Altoona and then Wittenberg in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) quad match on Saturday.

Match One: Penn State Altoona 3, Penn State Behrend 2 (25-22, 25-13, 19-25, 20-25, 12-15)
Records: Penn State Behrend (13-10, 5-4 AMCC), Penn State Altoona (11-12, 3-6 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* Behrend took the early 2-0 lead, hitting .312 in the first set and the holding Altoona to five kills in the second
* The Lions took a double-digit lead in the second at 16-6 and held on for a commanding 25-13 win
* Altoona won six of the final eight points in the third set to cut the deficit to 2-1
* In the fourth, the Altoona Lions trailed in the first three points of the set and knotted the match at 2-all with a 25-20 win
* Junior outside hitter Dillon Hildebrand (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) got Behrend an 11-10 lead with a kill in the fifth set but Altoona recorded three kills to claim a 15-12 victory
* Hildebrand led with 20 kills and JP Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) finished with 10
* Senior setter Anthony Sprentz (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) managed 37 assists and Robert McMaster (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) led with 14 digs

Match Two: Wittenberg 3, Penn State Behrend 2 (21-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20, 10-15)
Records: Penn State Behrend (13-11, 5-5 AMCC), Wittenberg (16-10, 8-3 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* The Lions recorded a season-high 64 kills in the match
* The loss is the third straight for Behrend by a 3-2 decision
* Hildebrand tallied a career-high 25 kills, just one of four players with double-digit kills
* Tyler Herrmann (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) had a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs
* Sprentz dished out a season-high 53 assists
* The Lions found themselves with two sets down and rallied back to send the match into a fifth set
* Behrend held an 8-6 lead in the decisive set and then were held to just two more points by the Tigers to fall 15-10


* Hildebrand became the all-time leader in kills and services aces in today's matches. He registered an ace against Altoona to set the program record for services aces and then he set the record for career kills with his fifth kill vs. Wittenberg.
