Behrend Volleyball Falls to Southern Virginia and Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa.  – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matches on the road Saturday afternoon.

Match One:
Score:  Southern Virginia 3, Penn State Behrend 1 (25-15, 25-21, 22-25, 25-18)
Records: Penn State Behrend (7-4), Southern Virgina (7-3)

Key Moments:

* The Lions had their four-match win streak snapped
* Southern Virginia hit .314 for the match and recorded 15 block assists
* JP Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) led the team with 10 kills
* Adrian Martinez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) posted a team-best 11 digs
* After falling the first two sets, Behrend tried to make its way back with a 25-22 third set win

Match Two:

Score:  Messiah 3, Penn State Behrend 0 (25-19, 25-19, 26-24)
Records: Penn State Behrend (7-5), Messiah (9-4)  

Key Moments:

* Dillon Hildebrand (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) registered 12 kills to lead the team
* Diego Ortiz (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) added 19 more assists to his first match to give him 38 on the day
* Cody Schnur (Butler, PA/Butler) hit a team-best .357 with seven kills on 14 attempts and two errors
* Once again, the Lions fell back two sets and had the match tied at 17 and 24-all in the third in the comeback attempt
* The Falcons used a kill and took advantage of an attack error to win the final two points
