ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend senior libero Adrian Martinez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) has been selected the 2023 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Men's Volleyball Preseason Player of the Year while the Lions were chosen to finish first in the Preseason Coaches Poll.

Martinez is a two-time All-Conference First Team selection, helping the Behrend Lions capture the 2022 AMCC Championship. The senior led Division III statistics in digs per set (3.24) last season, recording 330 digs in 30 matches played. Martinez posted double-digit digs in 20 matches, getting a career-high 22 against Geneva.

Behrend finished the 2022 season with a 22-8 overall record and a 14-2 mark in the AMCC. The Lions captured the AMCC Title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
