Behrend Men's Volleyball Opens Season Thursday

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team will host Stevenson in the 2023 season opener on Thursday in the Junker Center. The match begins at 7 p.m.

* Martinez was named to the AMCC First Team after finishing second in NCAA statistics in digs per set (3.24), recording 330 digs in 30 matches
* Junior outside hitter Owen Wienczkowski (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) returns after being named to the All-AMCC Second Team
* Wienczkowski ranked first in the conference in hitting percentage (.448) and was fourth in blocks per set (0.76)
* As a team, the Lions were named the NCAA Division III statistical champion in most digs per set (12.76) in 2022

* The Mustangs went 29-18 overall record and 15-5 in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) last season
* Stevenson was picked to finished third in the MAC Coaches Preseason Poll
* Sophomore Tim Flanagan was named the MAC Rookie of the Year last season
* Flanagan was also named to the FrogJump All-Freshman Team for knocking down 251 kills (2.61 per set)
