Jackson Reaches 1,000 Career Assists; Men's Volleyball Falls Twice

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches, falling to Penn State Altoona 3-2 and Baldwin Wallace 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in the Junker Center.

Match One:

Records:  Penn State Behrend (8-3, 6-1 AMCC), Penn State Altoona (1-13, 1-4 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* The Altoona Lions picked up their first win of the season and first AMCC victory in five sets
* The match had a combined 60 attack errors and 49 service errors
* Altoona held a 63-48 edge in digs
* Alex Jackson (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) surpassed 1,000 career assists with 40 helpers
* Adrian Martinez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) led with 19 digs
* Kyle Hoffman (Carlton, PA/Cochranton) led with 13 kills, while Joshua Elegeer (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) posted 11 kills
* Elegeer had 10 kills in the first two sets the Lions won
* In the second set, each team had match point but Behrend won the final three points thanks to a kill from Owen Wienczkowski (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and two attack errors
* There was a total of 25 time when the score was tied and 11 lead changes in the five-set match

Key Moments:

* Daniel Easly (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Dylan Buzalka (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) each tallied seven digs and six kills apiece
* Martinez secured 14 digs, while Jackson registered 17 assists on 20 team kills
* Buzalka had six digs and three kills in the first set, resulting in a three-point difference
* Behrend had an 18-16 lead in the first set, but the Yellow Jackets won the next nine out of 13 points for a 25-22 win
* Baldwin Wallace never trailed in the second set, taking a two-set lead at 25-14
* Behrend was tied up with the Yellow Jackets on eight occasions in the third set
* Baldwin Wallace held a 14-6 edge in kills and finished the set with a 9-2 run
* Lewis Rhodes (Reston, VA/South Lakes) had two solo block and one assist
