Behrend Men's Volleyball Sweeps Thiel in AMCC Action

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team collected an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) win over Thiel 3-0 on Tuesday night in the Junker Center.

Score: Penn State Behrend 3, Thiel 0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-22)
Records: Penn State Behrend (9-4, 7-1 AMCC), Thiel (10-10, 5-2 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* The Lions won the final seven of the last eight points, erasing a three-point deficit in the third set to defeat the Tomcats in straight sets
* Behrend held a two-set advantage heading into the third
* The Lions and Thiel were deadlocked 13 times in the third
* A kill from JC Govannucci and Zac Smith put the Tomcats ahead 21-18
* After a Behrend timeout, Owen Wienczkowski (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) knocked down four of his match-high 12 kills in the final seven points
* Dylan Buzalka (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) added two kills including the match-winning point
* Wienczkowski hit .500 for the match and added three block assists, while Buzalka added 10 kills and three digs
* Daniel Easly (Erie, PA/McDowell) pushed out eight kills and four digs
* Libero Adrian Martinez (San Juan, PR/Wesleyan Academy) had a team-high 11 digs and setter Alex Jackson (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) registered 31 assists and three block assists
* Diego Velazquez (Guaynabo, PR/Colegie San Jose) posted eight digs
* The win marked the second victory over Thiel this season
