Men's Volleyball Finishes AMCC Runners Up; Martinez, Jackson Named All-Tournament Team

ERIE, Pa. – The Geneva men's volleyball team posted a reverse sweep, coming back from two sets down to defeat Penn State Behrend 3-2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships match on Saturday.

* Senior libero Adrian Martinez (San Juan, PR/Wesleyan Academy) and junior setter Alex Jackson (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) were named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team

* The Behrend Lions only tallied eight kills to win the first set that had 11 ties and four lead changes
* Josh Elegeer (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Dylan Buzalka (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) each had four kills
* The Lions took advantage of nine attack errors by the Golden Tornadoes for a 1-0 lead in the match
* Behrend faced six-point deficit late in the second set at 19-13, the Lions won 13 of the next 18 points for a 2-0 edge
* The Lions got a kill from Kyle Hoffman (Carlton, PA/Cochranton) and then blocks by Cameron Schleicher (Meadville, PA/Meadville) and Lewis Rhodes (Reston, VA/South Lakes) followed by a solo from Buzalka

* Geneva only allowed 13 points in the fourth to tie the match and then never trailed in the fifth for the victory
* Jackson finished with a double-double, posting 42 assists and a career-high 20 digs
* Buzalka also posted a double-double with 12 kills and 16 digs, while Owen Wienczkowski (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) had a team-best 13 kills
* Martinez tallied 16 digs
