Behrend Men's Volleyball Sweeps Grove City in Season Opener

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team started off the new season with a 3-0 win over Grove City in non-conference action on Wednesday night.

Key Moments:

* The Lions won each set by two points, sweeping the Wolverines to start the season with a win
* Kyle Hoffman (Carlton, PA/Cochranton) tallied a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs
* Daniel Easly (Erie, PA/McDowell) led with 13 kills, while Luke Mumpower (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) had a match-high 15 digs
* Caden Mealy (Meadville, PA/Meadville) registered 34 assists, six digs and four kills
* Tied at 22-all in the first set, Joseph Sciscio (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) and Lewis Rhodes (Reston, VA/South Lakes) tallied a block and then Rhodes followed with a solo block to give Behrend set point
* The teams exchanged service errors to give the Lions a 25-23 set-one victory
* Behrend pulled ahead 11-5 in the second set, but Grove City went on a 15-6 run to grab a three-point lead at 20-17
* The Lions own the next eight out of 11 points including the final three to erase a 23-22 deficit and win on a pair of Hoffman kills
* Behrend had match point on three occasions, beginning at 24-22, in the third set
* Tied at 24-all, Easly and Hoffman each got a kill to seal the victory at 26-24
