Men's Volleyball Falls in Five Sets to Chatham, Thiel

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team dropped a pair of five-set matches on day two of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) vs. Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) Invitational on Saturday. The Lions fell to Chatham and Thiel.

Match One:
Score:  Chatham 3, Penn State Behrend 2 (12-25, 36-38, 25-19, 25-19, 16-14)
Records:  Penn State Behrend (2-4), Chatham (1-3)

Key Moments:

* Chatham was able to come back from two-sets down for the reverse sweep
* The Lions handedly won the first set by 13 points and then took the second set into extra points
* 19 tie and six lead changes led to a Behrend win, 38-36
* Tied at 36-all, Cameron Schleicher (Meadville, PA/Meadville) and Lewis Rhodes (Reston, VA/South Lakes) tallied a block and then forced an attack error by the Cougars for a two-set lead
* Chatham never trailed in the fifth set for its first win of the season
* Schleicher posted his first of two double-doubles on the say with 11 kills and 11 digs
* Joseph Sciscio (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) had a career-high 10 blocks assists with one solo
* As a team, Behrend posted 28 block assists and four solo for a total of 18 blocks
* Caden Mealy (Meadville, PA/Meadville) had 29 assists, nine digs and three assisted blocks
* Kyle Hoffman (Carlton, PA/Cochranton) tallied double-digit kills with 111, while adding eight digs and five solo blocks

Score:  Thiel 3, Penn State Behrend 2 (25-22, 29-27, 20-25, 18-25, 15-11)
Records:  Penn State Behrend (2-5), Thiel (3-3)

Key Moments:

* Thiel pulled ahead 2-0 before the Lions forced a fifth set
* The Tomcats hit .529 in the final set and closed out the match with four kills for a 15-11 win
* Behrend had four players with double-digit kills
* Schleicher registered his second double-double of the day with 13 kills and 11 digs
* Hoffman led with a team-best 16 kills, while Daniel Easly (Erie, PA/McDowell) had 15 kills, eight digs and three block assists
* Sciscio managed a career-high 10 kills and Mealy was near a triple-double with a career-high 50 assists, eight kills and eight digs
* Luke Mumpower (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) paced the squad with 20 digs
* Lewis Rhodes (Reston, VA/South Lakes) tallied seven blocks and four kills
