Behrend Men's Volleyball Sweeps Carlow, Houghton

HOUGHTON, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team registered a pair of 3-0 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) wins, defeating Carlow and Houghton on Saturday afternoon in New York.

Match One:
Score:  Penn State Behrend 3, Carlow 0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-16)
Records:  Penn State Behrend (8-14, 2-1 AMCC), Carlow (0-15, 0-3 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* Eight different players combined for 30 kills to help the Lions defeat Carlow
* Caleb Daubenspeck (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) led with seven kills on 11 attempts for a .364 attack percentage
* Luke Mumpower (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) added 13 assists, three service aces, three digs and two kills
* Tarendran Heyward (Flossmoor, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor) and Jake Mumpower (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) each posted six kills
* The Celtics only tallied 17 kills and had 13 service errors
* Behrend scored nine of the final 13 points in set one
* Heyward set Lewis Rhodes (Reston, VA/South Lakes) for the final point to win 25-14
* In the second set, the Lions took a double-digit lead at 20-10
* Kyle Hoffman (Carlton, PA/Cochranton) tallied two kills and J. Mumpower put the set away at 25-11
* The final set was similar to the second
* Behrend grabbed a 20-10 lead and J. Mumpower managed the last kill again for the sweep

Score: Penn State Behrend 3, Houghton 0 (25-21, 25-9, 25-20)
Records: Penn State Behrend (9-14, 3-1 AMCC), Houghton (2-18, 1-3 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* L. Mumpower tallied a double-double with 18 assists and a team-best 11 digs
* Daniel Easly (Erie, PA/McDowell) led with nine kills
* Hoffmann added six kills and four digs
* Behrend was down by two at 21-19 in the first set
* The Lions won three straight points to force a Houghton timeout
* Behrend won the next six for the set win at 25-21
* The Lions allowed just nine points by the Highlanders in the second set for a 2-0 lead in the match
* In the third set, Houghton grabbed a 20-19 lead but Behrend spoiled it with six straight points again for the win at 25-20
* Cameron Schleicher (Meadville, PA/Meadville) earned five kills and Rhodes posted two solo blocks and two assisted blocks
