Behrend Men's Volleyball Secures No. 3 Seed for AMCC Playoffs

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team defeated Grove City 3-1 in non-conference action and fell to Buffalo State 3-0 the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play on Saturday in a tri-match at the Junker Center.

Match One:
Score:  Buffalo State 3, Penn State Behrend 0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-21)
Records:  Penn State Behrend (11-15, 4-2 AMCC), Buffalo State (18-13, 6-0 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* The Lions secured the No. 3 seed for the AMCC Tournament hosted by No. 1 Buffalo State
* The Bengals hit .360 for the match, recording 45 kills and eight team blocks to be named the AMCC Regular-Season Champions
* Behrend had a two-point lead at 10-8 in the first set, before Buffalo State went on a 17-8 run for a seven-point win in the first set
* The score was tied 11 times in the second set with the last time at 15-all
* The Bengals held a 17-7 advantage in kills to take a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-20 decision
* Buffalo State did not trail in the third, just six more ties, before pulling away at the end with three straight kills, including two from Malachi Jackson
* Kyle Hoffman (Carlton, PA/Cochranton) led with 10 kills while Cameron Schleicher (Meadville, PA/Meadville) added six digs
* Luke Mumpower (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) dished out 17 assists and made five digs

Score:  Penn State Behrend 3, Grove City 1 (23-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-20)
Records:  Penn State Behrend (12-15), Grove City (13-14)

* Half of the Lions points were off Grove City errors
* In the 98 points scored, the Wolverines committed 49 errors (36 attack, 13 serving)
* Behrend defeated Grove City for the second time this season
* The Lions led by as many as five in the first set, but the Wolverines won the final six of the last seven points for the early lead
* Behrend began the second set with an 11-6 lead thanks for a Hoffman kill
* After a Grove City timeout, the Lions went on a 7-0 run to extend the lead to 18-9
* Behrend had no hitting errors in the second set and never lost the lead to even the match at 1-all after a 25-14 win in set two
* The Lions used seven kills and six service aces to win set three, 25-16
* Behrend tallied a match-high 12 kills on 30 attempts in the fourth
* Daniel Easly (Erie, PA/McDowell) led with four kills and five digs in the final set
* Easly posted a team-best 12 kills and nine digs
* Mumpower had his second double-double of the weekend with 23 assists, 10 digs
* Joseph Sciscio (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) added nine blocks and five kills
* Hoffman recorded 11 kills, eight digs, four block assists, two aces and one assist
