Lions Fall To George Washington at Navy Open

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team fell 18-1 to George Washington on day one of the Navy Open in Annapolis, Maryland on Saturday.
The Lions played in an exhibition game to start their 2011 season, dropping a 9-7 decision to Mt. San Antonio. Hunter Backenstose (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) made nine saves and blocked a five-meter penalty shot, while recording an assist in the loss.
In game two, Kody Veit (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) scored the lone goal for Behrend and his first collegiate marker against George Washington. Backenstose recorded six saves in the cage.
The Lions return to action tomorrow at 8:40 a.m. against Fordham for the second day of the Navy Open.
