SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team fell to Notre Dame College on Sunday 19-12.

The Lions scored a season high 12 goals but came up short against the Falcons in a rematch of the September 9th meeting at Behrend.

Wes Atkinson (Camarillo, CA/Rio Mesa) led the way for the Lions by scoring a career high five goals to increase his season total to 13.  Nic Pabich (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) also netted a hat trick for Behrend.

The Falcons held a 9-4 halftime lead before pushing the score to 15-6.  As the final period began, the Lions came out strong.  Behrend outscored Notre Dame 6-4 in the last period but the comeback fell just short.

Jake Salsgiver (Long Beach, CA/Wilson Classical) and Justin Vink (Los Angeles, CA/Granada Hills Charter) also contributed with a goal apiece.  Hunter Backenstose (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) continued his strong play, making 17 saves and tallying seven steals.

The Lions will be back in the water on October 1st to host two matches.  Behrend will take on Mercyhust at noon and Salem at 4 p.m.
