CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team split two matches on Saturday at the Claremont Convergence Tournament.  The Lions defeated Caltech 12-9 in overtime before being upended by La Verne 13-6

In the opening contest of the day, freshmen Kody Veit (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) led the way for Behrend.  He netted five goals to along with three by Ali Khan (Lake Zurich, IL/Stevenson).  Matthew Johnson, (Houston, TX/Cypress Falls) Adam Glick (Bonita, CA/Bonita Vista) , Wes Atkinson (Camarillo, CA/Rio Mesa), and Nic Pabich (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) each contributed with one goal apiece.  For the Lions, it was their first overtime game of the year.

Behrend wrapped up the tournament with a match against La Verne.  After scoring 12 goals in the first match, the Lions offense went quiet.  Khan, Atkinson, and Justin Vink (Los Angeles, CA/Granada Hills Charter) paced Behrend with two goals each, but it wasn't enough to catch the Leopards.

The Lions will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Salem.  Game time is 12 p.m.
