Men's Water Polo Wins Second Straight; Lions Down Salem

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team scored seven goals in the second quarter to make the difference in a 13-11 win over Salem International on Sunday afternoon at the Junker Center.
Jake DesRoches (Fairfax, VA/WT Woodson) netted all three of his goals in the second quarter, helping the Lions take a 9-4 edge and the lead that would not relinquish for their third win over Salem this season. Kody Veit (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) led the team with four goals, while Hunter Backenstose (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) came out of goal to score a pair of goals.
Down 3-2 after the first quarter, the Lions relied on DesRoches and defense in the second stanza to take the lead for good.
Salem also outscored Behrend in the third and fourth quarter. The Lions were lucky to build a five-goal lead and hold off a 7-4 difference in the final quarters. Adam Glick (Bonita, CA/Bonita Vista) also tallied two goals for Behrend along with one from Matthew Johnson (Houston, TX/Cypress Falls) and Ali Khan (Lake Zurich, IL/Stevenson).
The win marks the first time Behrend has strung two wins together this season.
