Lions Drop Two at Navy Invite

Lions Drop Two at Navy Invite

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team lost twice at the Navy Invitational.  On Saturday night the Lions fell to No. 15 Navy 17-5 before being upended by Notre Dame College this morning, 13-7.

In their night cap on Saturday evening, the No. 15-ranked Midshipmen, were too much for Behrend.

Hunter Backenstose (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) led the offense with two goals.  Ted Dean (Ramona, CA/Ramona), Ali Khan (Lake Zurich, IL/Stevenson) and Victor Nguyen (San Jose, CA/Evergreen Valley) each netted one.

The Lions (1-6) wrapped up the invitational against Notre Dame College Sunday morning.

Strong defense kept the Falcons off the board in the first.  At the break, Behrend held a slim 4-3 lead.  The second half was a different story though.  Notre Dame College scored ten goals and held the Lions to just three.

Khan scored three more while Backenstose contributed two.  Dean added another with Kody Veit (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) chipping in one as well.

Ty Elder (Brentwood, CA/Heritage) made a total of 27 saves in the two games.

The Lions will be back in the water on Saturday at Salem at 12 p.m.
