Men's Water Polo Competes In California

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team competed in two matches at the Claremont Convergence Tournament, falling to Cal Lutheran 19-5 and Cal Tech 15-13 on Friday afternoon.

Ali Khan (Lake Zurich, IL / Stevenson)and Adam Glick (Bonita, CA/Bonita Vista) each registered five goals on the day, while Ty Elder (Brentwood, CA/Heritage) made 14 saves total. In the first contest against Cal Lutheran, the Regals scored five goals in the first two quarters and had a big third quarter with seven goals to run away with the victory.

Khan and Glick netted a pair of goals and Justin Vink (Los Angeles, CA/Granada Hills Charter) had a solo tally. Elder made nine stops and Brendann Rosa (North Miami, FL/Hialeah) added three.

The Lions could not overcome a six-goal third quarter by Cal Tech to drop the second match by two goals. Behrend built a 5-3 lead after the first eight minutes and the two teams each scored two goals in the second. Cal Tech built a two-goal lead after the third and kept the lead through the fourth quarter.

Kody Veit (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) led with four goals, while Glick and Khan had three-goals apiece. Elder was able to make five saves.

The Lions return to action tomorrow against Chapman and Occidental.
