Lions Drop Two in California

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team fell twice on Saturday at the Claremont Convergence Tournament. The Lions were defeated by Chapman 20-8 before falling to Occidental, 14-6.
In game one, Chapman erupted for 10 goals in each half to get past Behrend.
Victor Nguyen (San Jose, CA/Evergreen Valley) led the Lions with the hat trick. Kody Veit (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) contributed two goals with Ali Khan (Lake Zurich, IL/Stevenson), Wes Atkinson (Camarillo, CA/Rio Mesa), and Matthew Johnson (Houston, TX/Cypress Falls) each scoring once.
In the nightcap, Behrend could not overcome a slow start after scoring just one goal in the first half.
Khan netted two more goals with Nguyen scoring two as well. Johnson and Ted Dean (Ramona, CA/Ramona) each tallied one goal.
On the day, Ty Elder (Brentwood, CA/Heritage) and Brendann Rosa (North Miami, FL/Hialeah) recorded 24 saves in net with each stopping 12 shots.
The Lions will be back in action on October 20 for the Division III East Championships.
