Lions Fall to Presidents at Southern Division Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team was defeated by Washington and Jefferson 10-6 in the ninth place game of the Southern Division Championships on Sunday morning.

Despite outscoring the Presidents 5-3 in the second half, the Lions (2-23) could not overcome an early six-goal deficit.

Washington and Jefferson came out fast, netting seven goals in the first half to only one Behrend goal.  The Lions scored three in the third and two in the fourth but could not catch the Presidents.

Justin Vink (Los Angeles, CA/Granada Hills Charter) led the offense with two goals.  Hunter Backenstose (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East), Ty Elder (Brentwood, CA/Heritage), Ali Khan (Lake Zurick, IL/Stevenson), and Kody Veit (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) each scored one goal.

Brendann Rosa (North Miami, FL/Hialeah) and Elder each made six saves in net.

Behrend will be back in action on November 16th at the Eastern Division Championships.
